About Ascend Recovery Center

Part of the Ascend Behavioral Health Network, our Albuquerque location offers the full continuum of care under one roof, built around individualized treatment.

Ascend Recovery Center is part of the Ascend Behavioral Health Network, and its Albuquerque location is the most comprehensive site in that network. It is the only Ascend location offering the full continuum of care, from medical detox through outpatient, in a single building on Lead Avenue SE.

That matters because it means clients can move through treatment without changing providers or starting over. As their needs change, clients step down through the levels of care while staying with a team that already knows their story. This page explains who we are, how we treat, and what makes this location different.

Who is Ascend Recovery Center?

Ascend Recovery Center is a Joint Commission accredited addiction and mental health treatment provider in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We treat adults across the age range for substance use and, when it is the primary condition, for mental health, using evidence-based therapies delivered by a coordinated clinical team.

We treat alcohol, opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines, prescription drugs, marijuana, polysubstance use, and MDMA. Our therapies include CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, 12-step facilitation, and family therapy, with EMDR-trained therapists on staff for trauma-informed care. Wellness activities such as yoga, sound healing, breathwork, and mindfulness support the clinical work.

What is the Ascend Behavioral Health Network?

The Ascend Behavioral Health Network is the parent organization that operates Ascend treatment locations, including sites in Florida, New Mexico, and North Carolina. All Ascend owned locations are Joint Commission accredited and share a common clinical foundation, including the core therapies used across the network.

The Albuquerque location stands apart within that network. It is the only Ascend site offering every level of care in one place, which is why it is described as the most comprehensive location in the network. Clients here benefit from the network's shared clinical standards and from a local continuum that keeps care in one building.

What makes the Albuquerque location the most comprehensive?

The Albuquerque location is the most comprehensive Ascend site because it offers medical detox, residential treatment, mental health residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care together. Detox and residential care are upstairs at 883 Lead Ave SE, with 24/7 LPN nursing, and clinical and outpatient care are downstairs at 881 Lead Ave SE in the same building.

This is a rare model. Very few treatment centers in New Mexico deliver detox through outpatient care under one roof, and having every level of care available locally means transitions are a short walk rather than a transfer to a new facility. It is one of the reasons the location can serve people from across the state, including Las Cruces, Rio Rancho, and Santa Fe.

What levels of care does Ascend offer under one roof?

Ascend offers the entire continuum of care in one building, which means a person can move from the most intensive level to the least intensive without leaving the Ascend system. The continuum runs from medical detox, through residential and mental health residential care, into day treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care, with case management and wellness support woven throughout.

Detox commonly lasts five to seven days with 24/7 LPN nursing, and residential care runs up to 30 days, both clinically driven. Day Treatment runs Monday through Saturday, with an abbreviated Saturday session, and intensive outpatient runs three or five days a week while clients live at home. Because each of these steps happens in the same building, a step down is a short walk and a warm handoff rather than a transfer that risks losing momentum.

  • Residential and mental health residential treatment
  • PHP, called Day Treatment in New Mexico, Monday through Saturday
  • Intensive outpatient three or five days a week
  • Outpatient care and enhanced case management support

What does individualized treatment mean here?

Individualized treatment means we build the plan around the person rather than fitting the person into a fixed schedule. This model is rare outside of a handful of states, and it is central to how we work in New Mexico. A client's plan is shaped by a thorough intake assessment and adjusted as they progress, so care reflects where the client actually is.

Because detox, residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care are all available in one place, we can match clients to the right level of care and change it as recovery moves forward. Length of stay is clinically driven, with detox commonly lasting five to seven days and residential care up to 30 days, always based on individual progress.

Is Ascend accredited?

Ascend Recovery Center is accredited by The Joint Commission, an independent body that sets nationally recognized standards for quality and safety in health care. Accreditation reflects our commitment to meeting rigorous standards for the care we provide, and it applies to all Ascend owned locations, including Albuquerque.

Accreditation shapes daily practice, not just paperwork. For example, a nutrition screen is part of every intake as a Joint Commission requirement, and all clinical content and treatment planning is reviewed by our clinical leadership before it is put into practice or published.

Ascend Recovery Center holds Joint Commission HCO ID 679225 and is licensed in New Mexico under License COM-2026-007661.

How does Ascend provide culturally responsive care?

Ascend provides culturally responsive care, and our staff are well-suited to serve the Native American community in New Mexico. Culturally responsive care means treatment is delivered with awareness of a person's background and community, so care fits the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit the program.

Our case management team extends this support beyond the clinical setting. In addition to standard services like FMLA and job coordination, legal and court support with proper releases, and step-down coordination, our New Mexico case managers help clients with insurance applications and public benefits such as SNAP, and connect people to community resources.
